BOISE, Idaho - Luka Soskic's straight-set singles victory handed Boise State a 4-0 victory over the visiting UTSA Roadrunners Saturday morning at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center in Boise. This was the second straight match clinching victory for the sophomore who defeated UTSA's Javier Rodriguez 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.

On the day, Boise State won the doubles point 2-0, then claimed three straight singles victories to clinch the team victory. The win concluded a seven-match homestand and improved the Broncos to 9-3 overall with their next contest slated for March 24 against Montana at Las Vegas, Nev. (UNLV).

"The way these guys (the Broncos) compete every single day is impressive to me," said Boise State head coach Kristian Widen. "We knew UTSA had a reputation for competing hard, but today we were able to out compete them, that says a lot about our guys. These guys (UTSA) were 10-3 coming in and ranked higher in the ITA rankings than us. We had to battle some challenges with a couple guys sick, it forced us to change our lineup, but it didn't bother the team! Once again doubles was huge for us not only getting the point but it gave us momentum. I can't say enough about Luka (Soskic), he has recorded two-straight match clinching victories for us. Right now, he is playing very well and with a lot of confidence, he has been a big addition to our team."

Boise State opened the day by taking the team doubles point 2-0 with wins on courts two and three. Jack Heslin and Simon Acra Costas recorded the first victory with a 6-2 win over Kai Breitbach and Alan Sanson at No. 2 doubles. The Boise State tandem is now 4-2 on the year.

The deciding doubles win came from court three where Simon Stenlund and Soskic put away UTSA's Patrick Poestinger and Javier Rodriguez 6-3. Stenlund and Soskic are now 4-1 as a doubles pair.

Up one heading into singles all the Broncos needed were three wins to take the match. Wyatt DeMulling started the Blue and Orange off with a two-set win 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to make the team score 2-0 Boise State. DeMulling improved to 17-8 overall and 8-1 in duals this spring.

The second victory came from Arca Costas on court five where the freshman dispatched UTSA's Sanson 6-2, 6-4. Arca Costas is the first Bronco this season to reach 20 wins as he moved to 20-9 on the year and 9-2 in duals.

That left the decisive win by Soskic at No. 2 singles to clinch and end the contest. He is now 9-1 in singles since transferring to Boise State during winter break. The other three singles matches were abandoned once the team victory was decided.
