Broncos Close Weekend on a High Note

Boise State picked up a pair of victories in the middle distance events, while Alexis Fuller moved to third on the school record book in the 800m

TEMPE, Ariz. — 
The Boise State track and field team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday to close out a successful weekend at the Sun Angel Classic. 

Jacob Grinwis won the open section of the men's 800m to lead three Broncos in the top 10. Grinwis ran a new personal best of 1:51.52 in the victory, and was followed by Henry Mong (1:51.72) in second and Israel Anaya Carmona (1:56.13) in 10th. Both Mong and Anaya Carmona also set new personal bests on the day.

In the men's 1500m, Jeff Lautenslager held strong down the final straightaway to win in a time of 3:49.65. He finished 26-hundredths of a second ahead of second place.

In addition to the two victories, Boise State had four athletes set new personal bests on the day. Alexis Fuller moved to third on the school record book in the 800m. The senior took eighth in the premier sections in a time of 2:05.57. In the open section, Kelly Moodry won her heat in a personal best of 2:10.34 to place fifth overall.

Ryan Cavinta ran 15.04 in the 110m hurdles, while Jordan Jacob took sixth in the women's 1500m (4:33.92) to set a new personal best. Cavinta would come within one-hundredth of a second of his personal best in the 400m hurdles, running 55.36 to place 10th.

David Pierce was sixth in the men's 100m, running 10.70. He would also team up with Rubio, Brayden Durfee and Bryce Kirby as the Broncos placed eighth in the premier section of the men's 4x100. The quartet ran 41.93.

In the women's 1500m, Sailor Hutton was 11th in 4:36.79, while Abi Dargan took ninth in the triple jump.

Boise State will return to action at the NNU Invite next Saturday, April 13, followed by a trio of meets in Southern California the following weekend.
