CLOVIS, Calif. – The Boise State track and field team had six athletes score in the men's and women's 10,000-meter on day two of the 2019 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Following a nearly two-hour lightning delay, Clare O'Brien and Riley Campbell finished second and third in their respective races at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Campbell took third in the men's 10,000-meter, running a final time of 30:45.66. The senior entered the final lap at the back of the chase pack of Wyoming's Christopher Henry and Air Force's Jacob Bilvado. Campbell began his kick at the 300-meter mark and again at the 200-meter mark to finish third – right behind Henry. He ran his final lap in 60.28-seconds, and will receive All-Mountain West honors early next week thanks to his finish.

Teammate Elijah Armstrong took seventh (30:54.64), while Miler Haller was eighth to give the Broncos nine points in the event.

In the women's race, O'Brien held steady in second place for the entire race after New Mexico's Weini Kelati jumped to an early lead. The junior led Jordan Jacob and Claire Graves through much of the race, as the trio finished 2-5-8 to score 13 points. O'Brien was second in 34:17.56, while Jacob used a strong kick down the homestretch to finish in fifth.

Action at the 2019 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships will begin tomorrow at 3 p.m. MT with the field events. The preliminary rounds on the track will begin at 6 p.m. MT.
