
Boise State Collects Pair of Shutout Victories

Broncos defeat Illinois State 4-0 and Detroit Mercy 10-0 to give Boise State four shutout wins on the year.
"Great to see us get some momentum rolling today and play complete ball games," said head coach Maggie Huffaker. "Broadus and Bailey were super efficient and competitive today and we had lots of offensive contributions up and down the line up."
In both victories Boise State's pitchers recorded complete games with Kelsey Broadus earning her fourth win of the season in the victory over ISU, while Hannah Bailey collected her first victory as a Bronco against Detroit Mercy. Broadus now has three shutout victories this year and 10 in her career, one short of tying the school record for career shutouts.
Jessica McKay hit .667 on the day going 4-for-6 with two RBIs and scored two runs. Alison Seng and Karlee Johnson each had two hits, defensively Seng had a team-high 17 putouts. Johnson, Kelsey Lalor and Jordyn Macias all hit home runs on Saturday.
In both contests the Broncos broke the game open early scoring 11 of the combined 14 runs in the first two innings. The defense took care of things from there as Boise State recorded its third and fourth shutouts of the year in six victories.
ILLINOIS STATE RECAP
Boise State won a pitchers duel in the rematch between the Broncos and Illinois State avenging a loss to the Redbirds on Friday. Boise State's Broadus pitched a complete game while earning her third shutout and fourth win of the season as the Broncos defeated ISU 4-0.

Boise State took control in the bottom of the second inning when three base runners crossed the plate. With two outs and runners on first and second, Johnson sent her second homer of the weekend to left field scoring three as Serena Huchingson and Bella Rocco crossed the plate in front of her.
Those were the lone scores of the game until the sixth when the Broncos added an insurance run. The bases were loaded when Isabelle Butler was walked, which scored Alison Seng to make the final score 4-0 Boise State.
OTHER NOTABLES
- Boise State left six runners on base while Illinois State stranded nine.
- McKay, Seng, Huchingson and Johnson all recorded hits during the victory.
DETROIT MERCY RECAP
Boise State wasted little time in taking command of the game from Detroit Mercy as the Broncos struck for eight runs in the first two innings on their way to a five inning 10-0 victory.

The Broncos took advantage of two Titan errors in the first inning as four base runners crossed the plate. McKay scored first on a fielding error, then Seng singled up the middle to bring Bradie Fillmore home. Johnson doubled to center bringing home Seng, followed by Lalor who scored because of a second Titan error.
The second inning saw Boise State bring four more base runners home for an 8-0 advantage. With two on, McKay singled bringing home Autumn Bennett and Ashlyn Adams. The last two scores came when Lalor sent a hard shot over the right field fence scoring herself and McKay.
The Blue and Orange then tacked on two more in the bottom of the third to take a 10-0 lead. Macias scored the first run of the inning when she hit a home run on her first plate appearance of the season. McKay brought home the final run with a double to left field that allowed Adams to score.
Boise State then retired six of Detroit Mercy's final seven batters in the fourth and fifth innings to close out the game for a 10-0 victory.

- Fifteen Broncos saw action in the game.
- Bailey pitched a complete game to collect her first career win as a Bronco, she transferred from Minnesota over the summer.
- Lalor's home run was her third of the season, a team high ... she also had a team-high three RBIs to give her nine on the year.
- McKay and Johnson both recorded two RBIs in the game to join Adams with double-digit RBIs on the year, all with 10.
