Boise State Edged By Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. - Blake Bayldon won both his singles and doubles matches on Sunday to lead Boise State during a 4-3 road loss at Gonzaga. Boise State claimed the team doubles point, then held a 3-2 advantage in the match when Gonzaga rallied by winning the final two singles contests of the day to claim the team victory.
The loss was only the second defeat of the season for the Broncos who moved to 5-2 overall.
The match began with Boise State taking two of the three doubles contests. Kyryll Kryvchun and Kemal Karagozoglu were the first Bronco tandem to claim victory winning 6-3 on court two over Vincent Rettke and Oliver Andersson.
Gonzaga came back and won at No. 3 doubles to tie it, that left the No. 1 doubles match to decide the team point.
Simon Arca Costas and Bayldon faced the Bulldogs' top duo of Sam Feit and Matthew Hollingworth, the Boise State tandem was taken to a tiebreaker before winning 7-6 (5).
Up one heading into singles Boise State needed three to win the match. The Broncos started slow dropping the first two singles contests decided on courts six and three, respectively, and trailed 2-1 to Gonzaga.
The Blue and Orange rallied with Mark Papadopoulos winning in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 on court five over Eric Hadigian. Bayldon was the next off the court defeating Andersson 7-6, 6-4 at No. 4 singles to give the Broncos a 3-2 match lead.
Unfortunately, for Boise State the last two matches went to the home side who claimed three-set wins on courts two and one, respectively. Both contests were battles before Arca Costas came up short 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to Hollingworth, followed by Kryvchun falling to Feit 7-5, 5-7, 6-4. For Kryvchun it was only the sixth loss this season as he moved to a team-best 19-6 overall.
Next up for the Broncos is a trip to northern California to face Pacific and San Francisco.
