BOISE, Idaho - Caden Moortgat's singles victory clinched the win for the Broncos who rolled past the Portland State Vikings 5-0 on Thursday afternoon. Boise State claimed the team doubles point 2-0, then cruised to four singles victories for the win.
The win opened a four-match homestand to close the regular season for Boise State who is now 14-3 overall.

"I thought we performed well, Portland State is a dangerous team. They've got some talent," said head coach Kristian Widen. "They are at the top of their league, the Big Sky Conference, so we knew it was going to be a battle. We were able to take the momentum early with the doubles point, it was a team effort today, everybody looked good.  Blake (Bayldon) did really well, he saved a couple of match points in doubles and held on to that momentum in singles where he pretty much destroyed Portland State's number one, who is a very good player."

The Broncos dominated the doubles point claiming a quick 6-1 victory on court two where Moortgat and Lawrence Sciglitano won 6-1. Simon Arca Costas and Lukas Ridemar clinched the team point for the blue and orange when they put away the No. 3 doubles match 6-3.

Arca Costas dominated his No. 3 singles contests 6-1, 6-1 to get the ball rolling for the Broncos in singles. His 51st career win gave him an 11-2 singles record this season.

Bayldon was the second Bronco off the court in singles defeating Portland State's Matteo Fortini in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. The Australian is now 10-2 on the year.

"I think we came out really strong," said Bayldon. "In doubles, we clinched the point 2-0 straightaway and then the guys stepped it up for the singles run from the get go. I could see that we were up real early on all the courts and we got a few really quick wins."

The next two matches finished within minutes of each other. The clinching singles victory came from Moortgat on court six where he downed PSU's Bryan Husin 6-2, 6-2 to move to 4-0 on the year.

The final contest to finish was Wyatt DeMulling at No. 5 singles where he downed Matthew Robert in two sets 6-3, 6-2 to claim his 61st win as a Bronco.

Boise State will continue the homestand on Friday when they host the Mountain West leading New Mexico Lobos at noon.
