Softball Hosts Five-Game Homestand

Broncos will host Utah State for three on Saturday and Sunday, as well as Utah Valley for two on Monday.

WHAT IS NEXT: Boise State (13-14, 5-4 MW) is home for a five-game homestand this weekend when they host Utah State (10-18, 2-7 MW) for a three-game Mountain West Conference series with a doubleheader on Saturday and one on Sunday. The homestand concludes on Monday when the Broncos go out of conference with Utah Valley (15-20) coming to town for a doubleheader. LAST TIME OUT:Â Boise State enters the weekend at 13-14 overall and 5-4Â in MW play. The Broncos are coming off a Mountain West road sweep (3-0) at San Jose State last weekend where they dominated the Spartans. The Broncos hit .412 versus SJSU with 35 hits and 23 runs, while holding the Spartans to .086 percent hitting with five hits and two runs.

SCOUTING BOISE STATE: As a team Boise State hits .242 (MW 6th), has an ERA of 3.06 (MW 3rd) and fielding percentage of .980 (MW 1st).
The Broncos return seven position starters and two pitchers from the 2020 campaign that saw the Broncos go 14-11. In addition, they welcomed back 13 veterans while adding two transfers and eight freshmen. Among the returners are two All-Mountain West honorees in Karlee Johnson and Alison Seng. This year's Boise State team was picked to place fourth out of nine teams in the 2021 league race.

ABOUT THE BRONCOS
HEAD COACH HUFFAKER: Boise State is in its third season under the guidance of Maggie Huffaker who has recorded a 63-41 overall record with the Broncos. Some of Huffaker's accomplishments at Boise State include: one NCAA Regional appearance and one NCAA regional championship appearance; two winning seasons; student-athletes have earned three NFCA All-Region honors and eight All-MW accolades. Academically, her team has earned one NFCA Academic Team Award, nine NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete accolades, 29 Academic All-MW and 20 MW Scholar-Athlete (3.5 or better cumulative GPA) honors.Â
BRONCO LEADERS: Ashlyn Adams is hitting a team-high .321 with 27 hits, nine runs and seven RBI. Kelsey Lalor is hitting a .280 with 123 hits, 15 runs, team-best three triples and six home runs for 14 RBI. Bella Rocco is next hitting .279 with 19 hits, eight runs and 12 RBI.  Hannah Bailey leads the pitching staff with a 2.05 ERA (MW 4th) and 40 strikeouts, while Sara Johnson has a 2.75 ERA and 58 strikeouts. Â
MULTIPLE HITS: Ashlyn Adams leads the Broncos with nine multiple hits games this season, followed by Alison Seng and Kelsey Lalor with five each.
ACTIVE REACHED BASE STREAKS: Autumn Bennet leads the team with the longest-active reached base streak of four games, followed by Kelsey Lalor and Jordyn Hutchins at three each. Â
MULTIPLE-BASE HITS: To date Boise State has recorded 50 multiple-base hits, led by Kelsey Lalor with 11, which includes two doubles, three triples and six homers. Jordyn Hutchins is next with nine on five doubles and four home runs and Autumn Bennett with six on four doubles and two home runs.
