Dar Walters Classic to Feature All-Broncos Final

BOISE, Idaho -Â Boise State will be well represented on the final day of the 2021 Dar Walters Classic. Two Bronco tandems will square off in the championship match at 10:30 a.m. MT at Appleton Tennis Center. Consolation matches will begin at 9 a.m.
The tournament is being played in mini-duel format. Each matchup features two pairs who play a doubles match and two singles matches. The duo that wins at least two out of the three matches advances to the next round.
Simon Arca Costas and Luka Soskic carry their top seed into the championship after a pair of 2-1 wins Saturday. Arca Costas and Soskic made quick work of their quarterfinal singles matches, each winning in straight sets against Bodin Zarkovic and Jack Ninteman of Utah State. The Bronco pair picked up their first doubles win of the season in the semifinal against Montana's Oisin Shaffrey and Ed Pudney before Arca Costas downed Shaffrey 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the match.
Kyryll Kryvchun and Michael Bott went rolled through two rounds on the tournament's second day to claim a spot in the final. After dropping their second-round doubles match to finish the day Friday, Kryvchun and Bott responded by going 5-0 Saturday. A pair of singles wins against Montana's duo of Gustav Theilgaard and Pontus Hallgren moved Kryvchun and Bott in to the semifinal where they swept away Air Force's Jordan Azuma and Robert Baylon.
Caden Moortgat and Jan Lucca Marquardt earned a 3-0 win in consolation play against Joaquin Espinoza and Jacob Huppin from Montana State. Moortgat and Marquardt will wrap up their weekend Sunday at 9 a.m. at Appleton Tennis Center against Utah State tandem Roko Savin and Gabriel Chavez.
Fans are welcome to attend outdoor matches. Parking for matches at Appleton Tennis Center will be available in the west stadium lot, between Albertsons Stadium and ExtraMile Arena. If matches are moved indoors to the Boas Indoor Tennis Center, spectators will not be permitted due to public health guidelines.
Matches played at Appleton Tennis Center will have a live video stream. Matches played at Julia Davis Park or Boas Indoor Tennis Center will not have live coverage.Â
