Boise State Sweeps Two Over George Fox

Broncos stretch home wins streak to 8-0.
BOISE, Idaho – The 59th-ranked Boise State men's tennis team swept a pair of matches 7-0 over George Fox on Saturday to improve to 13-4 overall and 8-0 at home.

In the first home outdoor tennis contests of the spring, Simon Arca Costas, Michael Bott and Idriss Haddouch led the Broncos, each going 4-0 on the day versus the Bruins.

Match 1 vs. George Fox
Boise State rolled in the morning defeating the Bruins 7-0 to improve to 12-4 overall.

The Broncos swept the doubles point 3-0 with Arca Costas and Bott clinching the point with their 6-4 win on court one.

Up one heading into singles, Arca Costas extended the advantage to 2-0 with his dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 position. Ryo Minakata moved the Broncos within one (3-0) of victory with a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 win on court four.

Haddouch, the lone freshman, recorded the match clincher 6-2, 6-2 on court three over Austin Stone.

Bott, Teague Burger and Caden Moortgat wrapped up the 7-0 sweep with straight-set victories, respectively.

Match 2 vs. George Fox
The second match saw the same result with the Broncos defeating the George Fox Bruins 7-0 to improve to 13-4 on the year.

The Blue and Orange claimed the doubles point 3-0 with the tandem of John Chin and Haddouch clinching the team point with their 6-1 win at No. 1.

Singles saw Arca Costas record the first victory with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win on court one. He was followed by James Van Herzeele on court two turning in a dominating performance winning in straight-sets 6-1, 6-0 to move the Boise State advantage to 3-0.

Jan Lucca Marquardt provided the match clincher with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles to make it 4-0 Broncos.

Rounding out the sweep for the Broncos was Chin at No. 3, 6-1, 7-5; Bott on court five, 6-1, 5-7, 1-0(13-11); and Haddouch on court three where he won 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Bott rallied from 9-2 down in the set three tiebreaker to win it.

- Arca Costas went 4-0 on the day picking up his 22nd and 23rd singles victories of the year.
- Arca Costas also picked up his 20th and 21st doubles victories; he is the second Broncos to reach 20 doubles wins this year.
- Bott also went 4-0 on the day notching two singles and two doubles wins, he extended his team-high wins total in doubles to 23.
- Haddouch completed the day at 4-0.
- Marquardt went 3-0 with a singles victory and two in doubles, he now has 19 doubles wins on the year.
