Boise State Outlasts No. 51 Liberty in Arizona

TEMPE, Ariz. – Boise State men's tennis outlasted the 51st-ranked Liberty Flames 4-3 Saturday afternoon on the second day of the Diablo College Tennis Invitational at Tempe, Ariz.
The Blue and Orange claimed an early 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point 2-1 with victories at the number one and three positions.
Sam Sippel and Jip van Assendelft gave the Broncos a 1-0 lead with a 6-3 win on court one. Jett Middleton and James Van Herzeele brought the doubles point home with their tiebreaker victory on court three by a 7-6(1) score to put Boise State up one heading into singles.
The Broncos expanded their advantage to 3-0 following a pair of straight-set victories on courts six and four, respectively. Haddouch recorded the first win, 7-5, 6-3 at the sixth position, followed by James Van Herzeele with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles.
After the Flames rallied to tie the team score at 3-3, John Chin turned in the match-clinching win on court five, rallying from one set down to defeat Thando Longewe-Smit in three 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

- The win snapped a four-match losing streak as the 58th-ranked Broncos improved to 7-8 overall.
- Van Herzeele claimed his 14th singles victory of the year and improved to 8-3 in team duals, second most on the team.
- Haddouch's fifth-consecutive singles victory made him the eighth Bronco to join this year's 10-wins club…he is 6-1 in team duals.
- Chin also won his 10th singles victory of the season to become the ninth Bronco to reach the mark…the junior is now 6-3 this spring.
