Broncos Host Record Crowd Against Nationally-Ranked Huskies

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State collected five extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs, but was outslugged by No. 10 Washington in a 15-9 loss, Wednesday.
 
A single-game record crowd of 1,286 was on hand to see the Broncos (25-17) take on the highest-ranked opponent at home in school history.
 
Alycia Flores led the offense with a 2-for-4, four RBI night, including a double and a home run. Mykenzie Hanna also homered for Boise State.
 
"Our offense did a good job tonight scoring nine runs against a top-10 team," head coach Justin Shults said. "In the end, we did not throw enough strikes and walked too many people."
 
The Huskies (28-7) hit five home runs, each of which followed a base on balls given up by the Broncos. Boise State pitchers walked nine in the game.
 
The Broncos trailed 8-0 in the fourth when Flores launched a two-run home run. An inning later, Boise State trailed 12-2 and were down to their last three outs for a potential mercy-rule loss.
 
The Broncos rallied for six runs as Sydney Groves, Flores and Leah McAnally each delivered two-run doubles in the frame. Boise State got the tying run to the on-deck circle before Washington closed out the inning.
 
The Huskies added three runs in the sixth. Hanna's solo home run in the seventh capped the scoring.
