Broncos Close Home Slate with UNLV and Nevada

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State closes out its home schedule this week when the Broncos host Mountain West rivals UNLV at 5 p.m. (Mountain) on Friday and Nevada at 11 a.m. on Sunday; both matches will be played at the Appleton Tennis Center on campus.

Friday's match is the Broncos' alumni match. Meanwhile, Sunday's contest will be Senior Day as Caden Moortgat, Sam Sippel, Teague Burger, and Jan Lucca Marquardt play their final home contests.

The 57th-ranked Broncos are coming off a 4-3 road loss last week at then-No. 71 Utah State. Boise State enters this week at 13-10 overall and 1-1 in MW play.

TEAM NOTES
- RECORD:Â The Broncos are 13-10 overall, 10-0 at home, 3-4 in neutral contests, and 0-6 in true road matches.
- VERSUS THE OPPONENT:Â Since the 1982 campaign, Boise State is 13-7 versus UNLV and 8-1 at home. The Broncos are 31-19 all-time versus Nevada, dating back to 1982, and 9-8 in Boise against the Wolf Pack.
- TOUGH SCHEDULE:Â The Broncos have challenged themselves this year. They have played 10 matches against competition nationally ranked in the top 75, going 2-8, and they have one more on the slate this year versus No. 68 New Mexico in the regular season finale.

BRONCO NOTES
- Sam Sippel enters the week with a 15-15 overall mark and an 8-9 record at the No. 1 position this spring, where he has faced 12 nationally ranked opponents, going 3-9 in those contests.
- Jip van Assendelft is ranked 118th nationally in singles; he typically plays at No. 2 singles, where he is 6-12 with a 14-14 overall record.
- James Van Herzeele has a 20-8 record in singles and is 14-3 in team duals, playing primarily at the No. 3 and 4 positions. He has an active seven-match win streak in singles.
- Jett Middleton is 16-12 overall in singles and 8-7 in team duals, playing primarily at the four and five positions…he won the ITA Mountain Region consolation singles final against teammate Caden Moortgat.
- Idriss Haddouch currently leads the team with an active 13-match win streak. He plays primarily at the sixth singles position where he is 12-0. He is 18-10 overall in singles and 14-1 in team duals this spring.
- John Chin is 13-11 in singles on the year and 9-6 in team dual competitions, playing primarily at the five and six positions.
- Caden Moortgat (10), Liam Toroman (11), and Kyvan Rietkerk (10) have reached the 10-plus wins mark this season.
COACHING NOTES
- Luke Shields is in his second season as the head coach at his alma mater, Boise State. He was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2023 — the third of his career and the first with the Broncos — after leading the team to a 21-8 overall record, the MW tournament championship, and the first round of the NCAA tournament. He is currently 34-18 at Boise State and 127-81 in his career as a collegiate head coach.
