Broncos Set to Host Bengals

- WHAT'S NEXT:Â Boise State returns to the pitch with a home match against Idaho State on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. MT. The contest will take place at the Boas Soccer Complex.
- SCOUTING THE BENGALS:Â The Bengals enter Friday's match with an 1-0-1 record, tying Colorado State 0-0 on Friday, Aug. 15, and defeating Denver 1-0 the following Sunday. The Broncos lead the all-time series 12-8-2 and have won the past four matchups. This marks the first contest between the two since 2019.
- HOT SHOTS:Â Boise State currently leads the Mountain West with 24 shots per game.
- SETTING THE STANDARD:Â The Broncos took 24 shots against Portland State, the most in a season opener since Jim Thomas took over as head coach in 2013.
- FIRST OF FIRSTS:Â In the match against Portland State (Aug. 16), Desiree Foster scored her first goal as Bronco, while Avery McBride and Kayla Soderstrom each recorded their first-career assists.
- BRONCO DEBUT:Â Eight Broncos made their Boise State debut at the season-opening match against Portland State. Jillian Anderson, Sophia Avalos, Tambree Bell, Lexi Chatterton, Aniah Cutler, Foster, Sophie Schmautz and Jasmine Young all saw playing time on the pitch for the first time.
- ABOUT THE BRONCOS:Â Returning for the Broncos are 2023 All-Mountain West Second Team honorees Carly Cross and Morgan Padour. 2023 MW All-Newcomer Team selection CIndy Conner will return on the pitch for Boise State, as well as Genevieve Crenshaw, who received 2023 All-Tournament Team distinctions.
- PRESEASON PREDICTIONS:Â Boise State was picked to finish third in the Mountain West's preseason poll, tied with Colorado State with 99 points. San Diego State was selected to win the conference, receiving eight of 12 first-place votes and 117 points. Utah State came in second with 107 points, including two first-place votes. Colorado State received the final two first-place votes.
- KEEP AN EYE OUT:Â Genevieve Crenshaw, Carly Cross and Morgan Padour were named to the 2024 Mountain West Women's Soccer Watch List. Crenshaw was one of two goalkeepers on the watch list with 36 total athletes.
- BIG GOALS:Â After finishing the 2023 season with a 8-2-1 conference record and an 11-4-6 overall record, the Broncos look to return to the MW Championship in 2024 after making a semifinal appearance in the tournament last season.
