
Baker and Tallakson Win Doubles Championship at MW Fall Qualifiers

LAS VEGAS – Carson Baker and Avery Tallakson claimed the Mountain West Fall Qualifiers doubles title, and Tallakson finished as the runner-up in singles as action concluded Monday afternoon.
The victory secures Baker and Tallakson a spot at the ITA Conference Masters, Nov. 6-9, in Los Angeles, California, where they will compete for a chance to play in the NCAA Championships.
In their first tournament as a pair, Baker and Tallakson opened with 8-6 and 8-2 victories over Utah State and San Diego State, respectively. They then faced No. 2 seed Jakub Prachar and Tyler Waddock of New Mexico, edging out a 7-6(4), 6-4 win. In the title match, the pair powered past Grand Canyon's Daniel Jankoski and Brice Patoux, 6-4, 6-4, to claim the tournament victory.
In singles, Tallakson earned consecutive wins over Matthew Staton of Air Force, Daniel Jankoski of GCU, Vitaliy Horovoy of UNLV, and Philip Bosin of New Mexico to earn a spot in the championship. He battled but ultimately fell to UNLV's Ilia Snitari 6-4, 6-2, finishing second.
