Broncos Rally Past Cal Poly to Stretch Win Streak to Six

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Boise State rallied from a point down twice to record its six-consecutive victory with a 5-2 win at Cal Poly on Wednesday in San Luis Obispo, California. The win improved the 42nd-ranked Broncos to 14-4 overall.
 
The match began with Cal Poly edging the Broncos for the doubles point 2-1. John Chin and James Van Herzeele won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles for Boise State's lone win.
 
Idriss Haddouch pulled the Broncos even when he won in two sets 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
 
Down one at 2-1, the Broncos rallied again when Chin claimed No. 6 singles in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. Boise State took the lead on Lukas Velik's 6-1, 7-5 win on court three to move the Broncos within one of the team victory.
 
Jett Middleton clinched the team's victory on court one when he rallied from a set down to defeat Cal Poly's Raz Haviv in three sets, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1.
 
The night ended shortly after when Van Herzeele came back from a set down to win his No. 4 singles match 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-1.

Notables

  • James Van Herzeele won his 74th career singles match to move into a tie for 18th all-time at Boise State.

What's Next

Boise State will return to action on March 28, when it opens Mountain West play at home versus Utah State.
