Broncos to Face Four Ranked Opponents at TCU Invitational

3/6/2025 9:00:00 AM | Women's Beach Volleyball

EVENT: Boise State beach volleyball will compete in its toughest tournament of the season this weekend as it travels to Fort Worth, Texas for the TCU Invitational. All four duals on the Broncos' schedule will be against ranked opponents, the most ranked teams the program has played at a single event in program history.

OPPONENTS: The team will begin the two-day event at 9 a.m. MT on March 7 against the host school, No. 4 TCU and will end the day at 3 p.m. MT against No. 12 Florida Atlantic. The Broncos will end the weekend on Saturday against No. 13 Texas at 9 a.m. MT and No. 7 Florida State at 1 p.m. MT.

BROADCASTING INFO: For the first time in program history, all Boise State road duals will be streamed. Each match will have a live feed of each court so that fans can follow the beach volleyball team in real time. A link to all duals can be found here, and fans can receive live updates by following Boise State Beach Volleyball on Facebook, Instagram and X (Twitter).

WEEKEND IN REVIEW: The Broncos opened their 2025 campaign with five duals over a three-day span last weekend, defeating Arizona, Oregon and UTEP while falling to No. 11 Arizona State and No. 18 Grand Canyon. Boise State maintained a perfect all-time record against the Ducks, moving to 18-0, while picking up its second-straight victory over the Wildcats. Two Bronco pairs finished 4-1 on the weekend – Allyson Alden/Sharli O'Neil from the No. 2 court and Lily Patock/Elli Wolthuis from the No. 4 court.

PAIR OF THE WEEK: Following their dominant opening weekend, Alden and O'Neil were named the Southland Conference Pair of the Week on Tuesday. The honor marks the first time that either Alden or O'Neil has taken home the weekly conference honor in their career and marks the eighth time the program has secured the award since joining the league in 2023. The duo picked up two wins over ranked opponents at the Cactus Classic, defeating No. 11 Arizona State's Olivia McElroy and Anya Pemberton, 21-19, 21-17, on Friday before taking down No. 18 Grand Canyon's Adrianna Ferro and Innes Piret, 21-18, 13-21, 23-21, on Saturday.

RANKINGS: Boise State was slotted just outside the top 20 in the latest edition of the weekly AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll, claiming the top spot in the receiving votes section. The Broncos received 16 votes and trails No. 20 Stetson, who received 63 points. Boise State is four votes ahead of conference rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who was selected as a SLC preseason co-favorite alongside the Blue and Orange in the league's preseason poll.

MILESTONE WATCH: After becoming the sixth Bronco in program history to garner 50+ career wins, O'Neil can move into the top five in program history this weekend. The senior enters the TCU Invitational with 51 career victories, trailing Joey Benson (2020-23), who earned 53 victories. Wolthuis can join O'Neil in the 50-wins club, entering the weekend with 48 career victories. Head coach Allison Voigt could also achieve a significant milestone, entering the two-day event with 99 career victories.
