BOISE, Idaho – Sydney Groves ripped a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth and Boise State captured a Mountain West softball series with a 7-6 win, Friday night.

With one out in the sixth, Makenzie Butt and Brooklynn Pettis delivered back-to-back singles with one out. Megan Lake worked a two-out walk to load the bases and Groves capitalized by drilling a ball to the left-center gap that cleared the bases.

Boise State (32-20, 10-11 MW) trailed 3-0 and 4-1. In the fourth, the Broncos scored twice to tie the game 4-4 with Butt contributing an RBI-single and Leah McAnally adding a sacrifice fly.

Utah State (26-24, 11-10) scored in the fifth and sixth to up 6-4 before Groves's heroics.

Julieanne Rose (3-2) pitched 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball to earn the win and Abby Dowell, the fourth Bronco pitcher, recorded the final-two outs for her fourth save.

Boise State and Utah State wrap up their series with first pitch scheduled for noon. The winner will be the No. 4 seed in the Mountain West Softball Championship, May 7-10.

Sydney Groves walked three times to move into eighth place in Boise State history with 72.
Mykenzie Hanna scored a run to raise her Boise State single-season record to 64.
Sophia Knight scored her 112th-career run to tie for seventh all-time at Boise State.
Knight collected her NCAA-leading 98th hit of the season.
