Boise State Wraps Up Play in Arizona

TEMPE, Ariz. – Boise State men's tennis earned one victory over the weekend at the Arizona State Diablo Collegiate Invitational.
 
No. 68 Boise State fell 4-0 to No. 31 UC Santa Barbara and Michigan State before closing the two-day event with a 4-2 win over Tulane.
 
UC Santa Barbara
No. 68 Boise State (7-4) dropped the doubles point to No. 31 UC Santa Barbara (7-4) to open the match. Idriss Haddouch and Filip Soderqvist fell 6-2 to Lorenzo Brunkow and Diogo Morais on court three. Conrad Brown and Dominique Rolland then secured the point for the Gauchos with a 6-3 win over Taiyo Kurata and Julius Seifert on court two.
 
UC Santa Barbara continued its success into singles, winning three-straight matches to complete the sweep. On court five, Charlie Underwood defeated Lukas Velik 6-4, 6-3. No. 107 Lucca Liu followed with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Soderqvist on court two. Morais clinched the match on court four, earning a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over Carson Baker to seal the 4-0 result.
 
Michigan State
Michigan State (2-5) opened with the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead over No. 68 Boise State (7-5). Matthew Forbes and Aristotelis Thanos secured a 6-1 victory over Kurata and Seifert on court three. The No. 44 ranked duo of Taym Alazmeh and Danial Rakhmatullayev clinched the point with a 6-4 win against Baker and Avery Tallakson on court one.
 
The Spartans continued their strong play in singles, earning three-consecutive wins to complete the 4-0 sweep. Mitchell Sheldon defeated Haddouch 6-3, 6-0 on court six. No. 11 Forbes followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Soderqvist on court one. Thanos secured the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Tallakson.
 
Tulane
Boise State (8-5) bounced back with a 4-2 win over Tulane (3-5), earning its first victory of the weekend.
 
The Broncos started strong in doubles. Stewart Aronson and Soderqvist posted a 6-1 win over Hady Elkordy and Alec Gaudin on court two. Baker and Tallakson then clinched the point with a 6-2 victory over No. 43 Daniel Phillips and Lance Nisbet on court one.
 
Boise State extended its lead in singles, claiming the first two matches for a 3-0 advantage. Kurata defeated AJ Mercer 6-0, 7-5 on court six, followed by Velik's 6-3, 6-2 win over Andreas Delgadillo on court five.
 
Tulane answered with back-to-back victories. Asaf Friedler won over Soderqvist 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 on court two and Gaudin defeated Baker 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on court three. Aronson secured the team win for the Broncos, claiming a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2 victory over Steven Rice to clinch the 4-2 result.
