Broncos to Host Boise State Spring Invitational

WHAT'S NEXT
No. 66 Boise State men's tennis is set to host its spring invitational on March 6-7 at the Boise Swim & Racquet Club. The Broncos open the invitational on March 6 with a 2 p.m. MT matchup against Idaho State, followed by a contest against Montana at 6 p.m. MT. Boise State will return to action on March 7 for a final match, with the opponent and start time to be announced.

THE FIELD
No. 66 Boise State will host five other programs at the invitational, including No. 56 BYU, No. 65 Gonzaga, Idaho, Idaho State and Montana.

THE FORMAT
Day one will divide the field into two brackets, with each bracket competing in round-robin play. Saturday's matchups will then determine first, third and fifth place matches based on the results from Friday's bracket competition.

SCOUTING THE BENGALS
Idaho State enters the weekend with a 6-3 record, despite dropping its last four matches. The Bengals fell 7-0 to UNLV, 6-1 to No. 71 Utah State and 6-1 to Northern Arizona, with their closest match coming in a 4-3 loss to No. 47 BYU. The Broncos have dominated the all-time series, winning 16-straight against the Bengals and holding a 42-10 advantage overall.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
Montana enters the weekend with a 4-3 record, with losses to Utah State, Utah and Denver. Boise State has historically controlled the series, posting a 42-1 all-time record against Montana. The Grizzlies' lone victory came on Feb. 4, 2022, when they edged the Broncos 4-3.

MILESTONE WATCH
Taiyo Kurata and Filip Soderqvist are both approaching the 20-singles win milestone on the season. Kurata just needs two victories, while Soderqvist is three away. Additionally, Idriss Haddouch is three wins away from ten victories on the season. In doubles play, Stewart Aronson and Soderqvist are just one victory shy of 15 wins on the year as a pair, while Carson Baker and Avery Tallakson sit three away from the same milestone.

MW FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Soderqvist was named the MW Freshman of the Week on Feb. 18. It marked the first honor of his career and the first weekly accolade for the Broncos this season.

Baker earned All-Mountain West distinctions in singles and doubles last season, marking the sole active Bronco to hold such honors on the 2026 roster.

Boise State has won five regular season conference titles all-time. The Broncos' first year as a member of a conference that played a regular season round robin was 2009 when they were members of the Western Athletic Conference. They went on to win that first WAC title and have since followed with three in the MW (2012, 2014, 2024 and 2025).

Since joining the conference for the 2012 campaign, the Broncos have won six MW tournament championships (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2023, 2024).
