Broncos Rally Past Rebels

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball swept UNLV 3-0 for Day Two of the Boise State Classic.
The Broncos (3-2) kicked off set one with back-and-forth scoring against the Rebels (0-4) until Boise State was able to build a 19-16 lead off a few of UNLV's errors. The Blue and Orange scored three-consecutive kills to build a six-point deficit. Azlynn Tittmann clinched set one 25-22 with a kill.
Boise State built a dominant lead early in set two with Kendall Hastings, Sydney Dreves and Tittmann all driving in kills. Reese Weinert and Giselle Paedon added two blocks a piece to maintain the pace. Dreves and Tittmann tied at five kills, building a commanding 25-19 set two win.
In set three, Hastings came right out of the gate with a kill and assist from Tehya Maeva. The Broncos put up 12 kills, including Paedon with a team-high of four in set three. Hastings remained dominant at the net with two blocks, alongside Dreves, Amelia Hansen, Tittmann and Weinert, who each contributed one. The Broncos held the lead for the entirety of set three to seal the deal 25-16.

"We played really well tonight against the very athletic UNLV team," head coach Shawn Garus said. "Our ball control was really good, serving and passing, that led to our setters running as good as an offense as I've seen yet this season. Both setters did a really good job, scoring at a high percentage. That's something we want to keep seeing this team embrace. We have different stars every night, everybody is contributing. The setters and middles are amazing. Glad to win three and get back tomorrow, pretty quick turnaround for a good item."

To close out the Boise State Classic, the Blue and Orange will go head-to-head against Idaho State on Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. MT in ExtraMile Arena.
