Boise State Falls to New Mexico

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State men's tennis team fell in the opening dual of a weekend homestand, 4-1, to the New Mexico Lobos, Friday night at Appleton Tennis Center.
The loss dropped the Broncos to 4-19 on the season, and 1-2 in Mountain West play.
Sophomore Kyle Butters notched the lone win for the blue and orange with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Bart Van Leijsen at No. 1 in singles. Butters is now 11-14 on the season.
The Lobos started the dual by taking the doubles points with victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Bronco tandem of Pedro Platzeck and Brian Tran lost 6-1 on court one, while Jack Heslin and Greg Wischer fell 6-4 on court two.
The No. 3 pair of Butters and Ryland McDermott were leading 5-3 in their contest before play was stopped.
New Mexico added to its lead with victories at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions in singles play to clinch the match.
Boise State will continue the homestand Sunday with a double header against Air Force and Idaho. The Air Force dual will begin at 9:30 a.m. while the dual against Air Force will begin at 3:30 p.m.
