ÂBOISE STATE HEADS TO MOUNTAIN WEST CHAMPIONSHIP
- Boise State (11-9, 1-6 MW) heads to the Mountain West Championship this week which starts Thursday at Fresno, Calif.
- The seventh-seeded Broncos will take on the second-seeded Utah State Aggies in a rematch of last Saturday's meeting in Boise where the Aggies won 4-0 in the regular-season finale. Â
- Thursday's encounter in Fresno will start at 4 p.m. (Mountain) — dependent upon the progress of the matches preceding it — at Fresno State's Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. Â
- The winner of the Boise State vs Utah State contest will face the winner of the No. 3 Fresno State vs. No. 6 Nevada match Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
BRONCOS SHOWED IMPROVEMENT THIS SEASON
- The Broncos have surpassed their win total from the last season and have recorded the most victories (11-9) since the 2015-16 campaign (20-10).Â
- Boise State currently has an overall record of 11-9, with a 109-71 mark in singles (.606) on the year and 57-38 (.600) singles record in dual matches.Â
LEADING THE BRONCOS
- Freshman Arca Costas was the first Bronco this season to record 20 singles victories and is currently 24-11 overall, he is also 13-4 in spring duals.Â
- Junior Wyatt DeMulling became the second Bronco to hit 20 singles victories with a mark of 22-10 on the year and 13-3 record in duals.
- Simon Stenlund — a freshman — has been nearly as impressive going 18-8 overall and 6-4 in spring duals. Â
HEAD COACH KRISTIAN WIDEN
- Boise State graduate and former all-conference performer for the Broncos, Kristian Widen is in his first season as head coach for the Broncos. Widen continues to build a strong, hard-working team and program.
- Widen's coaching record now stands at 11-9.Â
BRONCOS' MW TOURNAMENT HISTORY
- The Broncos have advanced to the MW Championship title match in five of the seven years since joining the league for the 2012 campaign, they won the first four championships before finishing as the runner up in 2016.
- Last year, Boise State fell 4-2 to Utah State during the quarterfinals at the 2018 championship at San Diego, Calif.
- Boise State is currently 13-3 all-time in the MW Championship ... six of the 13 victories have been by 4-0 sweeps.
- Boise State's four MW Championship titles are the most of any team in league history.
CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT RECORD
- Since the 1982 Big Sky Conference Tournament, Boise State has gone 89-38 all-time at conference championship tournaments.
- From 1970-1992 the Big Sky Conference Tournament was a round-robin format.
- Starting with the 1993 Big Sky Tournament all of the conference championship events (all leagues) in conferences Boise State has been a member of have been a bracket format ... since that time Boise State has gone 51-11 in conference tournaments.
CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
- Since 1993 (bracket format for tournaments) the Broncos have reached 17 conference championship matches, they are 15-2 in those contests.
- Boise State has won a combined 16 conference tournament championships in program history.
