Senior Day Brings In 11 Event Titles

BOISE, Idaho – On a day where Boise State recognized its senior class, the Broncos made sure to commemorate the occasion with 11 event titles on day two of the Border Clash at Dona Larsen Park on Ed Jacoby Track.
The sprints were dominated by the Blue and Orange, as Bryce Kirby claimed the 100m title with a time of 10.63 and David Pierce followed it up with a career-best 21.38 in the 200m to win the event. Brayden Durfee (11.18) also fared well in the 100m, taking second place.
Kelly Moodry cleaned up on the women's side, winning the 400m in 57.31 and taking second in the 200m with a career-best 25.43.
The 400m hurdles also produced exceptional results for the home team, as Ryan Cavinta (53.54) and MaLeigha Menegatti (1:03.26) both claimed victories in the men's and women's races, respectfully. The time was a career best for Menegatti.
The 800m was a dominant race for the Bronco men, as all the five Boise State competitors finished first, second, third, fourth and fifth. Henry Mong (1:51.96), Jacob Grinwis (1:52.14), Cade Greseth (1:54.40), Andrew Rafla (1:54.86) and Jeff Lautenslager (1:55.61) all took part in the 1-5 sweep.
The women's 1,500m produced similar convincing results, as Olivia Johnson (4:36.11), Claire Graves (4:38.69) and Yukino Parle (4:40.91) all clocked PRs and finished first, second and third, respectively.
Israel Anaya-Carmona won the men's 3,000m with an 8:58.65 and Sailor Hutton grabbed the win in the women's race with a 10:11.32.
Taj Dorsett followed up her long jump victory yesterday with a triple jump triumph, bounding her way to a 38-7 (11.76m).
Pole vault saw more Bronco success, as Amber Mallet cleared 11-10 (3.61m) for the win and Destiny Begin took third thanks to a 9-10.50 (3.01m) on the women's side. Justin Stattner took second for the men with a vault of 15-7 (4.75m).
Chris Kiley fared well and took second in the shot put, recording a mark of 48-9 (14.86m).
The Broncos will now look ahead to next week's Payton Jordan Invitational (May 2) and Portland Twilight (May 3) before the conference championships in Clovis, Calif., which are scheduled for May 8-11.
