WHAT IS HAPPENING
- Boise State's men's tennis team will be hosting in-state rival Idaho is this Saturday.
- As a program the Broncos are 40-3 all-time against Idaho with their last loss coming in 2018.Â
- The Blue and Orange will look to bounce back after losing three straight.
- Last weekend (Feb. 22-23) Boise State hosted Louisiana and San Diego State and fell in heartbreak fashion to both teams.
- Against Louisiana the Blue and Orange took the doubles point 2-0 then Simon Arca Costas opened singles with a victory before the Broncos came up short on the next five.Â
- The Broncos opened up conference play against the Aztecs and were led by Kyryll Kryvchun, Wyatt DeMulling and Blake Bayldon who all won singles matches. The defeat moved Boise State to 6-5 overall on the year.
- The Broncos No. 1 Kryvchun who holds a team best 22-7 overall record.
- Senior DeMulling is next with a 15-8 overall record, followed by Arca Costas who is 15-9.
- The No. 1 tandem for the Broncos Bayldon and Arca Costas is ranked 56th nationally and holds a team best 13-2 on the year.
- Holding the No. 2 position for Boise State is Michael Bott and Mark Papadopoulos with a 5-5 record on the year.
- Kristian Widen is in his second year as head coach of his alma mater. The former Bronco tennis player and 1996 Boise State graduate was named head men's tennis coach on May 17, 2018.
- He begins his second season with an 17-15 overall record. Â
- He has been a part of seven conference championships at Boise State, three as a player and four as an assistant.
- Widen has more than 20 years of coaching experience at various levels, including time previously spent on staff at Boise State with both the men's and women's programs.
