Broncos go undefeated at Northwest Invitational

Boise State wraps up perfect weekend with a 5-0 win over Bushnell and a 4-1 victory versus Oregon.
SALEM, Ore. - Boise State's beach volleyball team defeated Bushnell 5-0 and Oregon 4-1 on a stormy Saturday afternoon to finish the Northwest Invitational at Salem, Ore., with a perfect 4-0 record. Boise State dropped one pair match on the weekend, all nine victories today were in straight sets.
"I thought our team did a very good job today and handled the elements well," said Boise State Head Coach Allison Voigt. "They had great attitudes and were able to use the elements in their favor. Going 4-0 this weekend is a great start and I hope we can take this momentum into our tournaments in California.
Boise State used the same pairs combinations all weekend and it was able to mix in some exhibition contests as well. All 15 Broncos saw action in Oregon and experienced wins in Salem on Friday and Saturday.Â
The Boise State coaches mixed up the lineup for the early contest, holding out the usual No. 1 pair of Erin Martin and Yasmin Tan. In their stead, the Broncos' normal lineup moved up one slot with Rori Chartier and Sierra Land playing on court one for the second time this season. The duo defeated Makenna Northern and Shay Coons 21-11, 21-7. They followed that with a second straight-set win over Oregon at No. 2 pair winning 21-11, 21-16. They finished the weekend at 4-0 overall.
Erin Martin and Tan returned to the lineup at No. 1 pair versus Oregon where they dispatched the Ducks' Reagan Hope and Madelyn LaFollette, 21-16, 21-11. The tandem went 3-0 at the invitational.Â
Kaylee Mejia and Sharli O'Neil also swept past their opponents on Saturday recording a No. 2 pair win over Bushnell's Jessica Northcutt and Camille Guerrero 21-12, 21-15. They added another two-set victory versus Oregon's Alex Laita and Batia Rotshtein on court three by 21-15, 21-15 scores to move to 4-0 on the week.
Madison Nichols and Danielle Boss were also perfect on the weekend going 4-0 with a pair of wins Saturday over Bushnell's No. 3 pair 21-11, 21-5 and Oregon's No. 4 duo 21-15, 21-14.
Joey Benson and Emilia Guerra-Acuna went 1-1 on Saturday tallying a win at No. 4 pair versus Bushnell 21-12, 21-12. They finished the two-day competition at 3-1.Â
Also seeing playing time on Saturday was the Boise State duo of Alli O'Harra and Katie Martin as they defeated Bushnell's No. 5 pair in three sets 19-21, 21-19, 15-4. They also won an exhibition match against Oregon 21-11, 21-17.Â
Alyssa Wissinger and Emilie McDonald claimed an exhibition win versus Bushnell 21-9, 21-12.Â
The two team wins today improved Boise State to 7-6 overall with a road trip to California on the slate for next weekend. Â
