LOS ANGELES – Boise State men's tennis picked up a big road victory Sunday afternoon as the Broncos edged LMU 4-2. The win improved the Broncos to 7-3 overall, while LMU fell to 6-5.

Simon Arca Costas dropped his opening singles set, then rallied to win the second and third sets in tiebreakers to clinch the team victory for the blue and orange. The senior trailed 5-1 in the third before rallying to win five consecutive games to go up 6-5. After his opponent, Arthur Pantino forced the set into a tiebreaker, Arca Costas won the tiebreak 7-3.

Boise State took the early advantage in the match when the Broncos won the team doubles point with Jan Lucca Marquardt's and Sam Sippel's 6-2 win on court three, followed by Arca Costas' and Michael Bott's 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

The Broncos then earned straight-set singles victories from John Chin (6-4, 6-0) and Ryo Minakata (6-3, 6-4) to put the blue and orange within one singles victory of the team win.

Sippel was about to start a third-set tiebreaker when his match on court one was abandoned.

Notables

The win on Sunday was the 100th of Luke Shields' career as a collegiate head coach, 100-66.
Arca Costas' singles win was the 88th of his career, moving him to within one of a three-way tie for 11th all-time at Boise State.
Arca Costas' singles and doubles victories gave him 155 combined career wins, moving him into sole possession of 13th in program history, one short of a three-way tie for 11th.
Arca Costas now has a team-high 17 singles victories this year.
Michael Bott and Arca Costas collected their team-leading ninth doubles victory of the year.

What's Next

Boise State will head to Tempe, Ariz., for an eight-team tournament next weekend; pairings have not been announced yet.
