Boise State Wins MW Semifinal 4-1 Over New Mexico

LAS VEGAS – Boise State men's tennis continued its quest for back-to-back Mountain West tournament championships with a 4-1 victory over New Mexico Thursday night in Las Vegas. The win secured the Broncos their seventh appearance in the MW Championship match on Friday night.

The Blue and Orange opened the day by taking the team doubles point 2-1 over the Lobos. After UNM had taken a 1-0 lead, Boise State rallied behind Sam Sippel's and Jan Lucca Marquardt's 6-3 win on court one, followed by Caden Moortgat's and Jett Middleton's 6-2 victory at the second position. Â

John Chin gave the Broncos a 2-0 advantage when he won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Idriss Haddouch pushed the Blue and Orange to within one of victory following his 6-3, 7-6(2) win on court five.

After New Mexico pulled to within 3-1, Boise State's Sippel turned in the match-clinching victory when he defeated Arda Azkara in straight sets, 7-6(6), 6-3 at the top court.
