SAN DIEGO – Boise State fell behind early and lost 8-5 to Southern Utah, Sunday.

The Broncos (6-5) trailed 5-1 after an inning and 8-2 after two before making a comeback attempt that fell short. Boise State committed three errors in the loss.

Boise State loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first and scored on Jorja Crider's sacrifice fly.

In the second, Sophia Romero led off with a triple and came home on Alyssa Flindt's RBI-single.

Skylar Stroh cut the deficit to 8-4 with a two-out, two-run single in the fourth. A sacrifice fly by Kate Penberthy in the fifth made the score 8-5.

The Broncos got the tying run to the plate in the sixth with one out, but Stroh hit into a force out and Hollie Farmer grounded out to end the inning.

NOTES

Grace Peffley recorded her first-collegiate hit and went 2-for-4 in her first-career start.
Loula-Rae McNamara made her 10th appearance of the season (entered the day tied for the national lead) and logged two shutout innings to lower her ERA to a team-best 1.67 in 21 innings.
Julianne Rose gave up one run in three innings of relief to finish the weekend with a 1.00 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 14 innings over three outings.
