Broncos Win a Pair of Matches at Spring Fling

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's tennis won a pair of matches on the opening day of the Spring Fling tournament at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center in Boise, collecting a 6-1 victory over Montana State, then followed with a 4-3 win over Kennesaw State. The pair of wins improved the 38th-ranked Broncos to 11-4 overall.
Up one in the team score, Boise State opened singles with a win at No. 3 by James Van Herzeele 6-3, 6-0. John Chin followed with a quick victory on court five 6-1, 6-3.
Kurata recorded the match-clinching singles victory in straight sets, winning at No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-4.
Boise State ended up winning the first five singles contests in straight sets as Idriss Haddouch (6-4, 6-4) won on court four, while Carson Baker at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, wrapped up the Broncos' scoring to put the Broncos up 6-0 before eventually taking the contest by a 6-1 score.
The Broncos secured the team victory by winning three straight singles matches to go up 4-0 over Kennesaw State. Idriss Haddouch was the first to put away his opponent, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Van Herzeele was not far behind, winning 6-3, 6-2 on court four to put Boise State up 3-0.
