Boise State Opens 2019 at Home Against Montana State and Gonzaga

BRONCOS KICK OFF 2019 SEASON AT HOME

The Bronco men's tennis team opens its spring season with a homestand starting on Friday, January 25th at 4 p.m. against the Montana State Bobcats and Sunday, January 27th at 11 a.m. against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. This kicks off four-straight home matches for the blue and orange to start the 2019 season.

The blue and orange return five player's from last year's team, while also bringing in four gifted freshmen to add some power to the group. Boise State has a big year ahead as they continue to work towards building an even stronger team. Friday's matchup is a great opportunity for the team to start this season off strong.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Simon Arca Costas and Simon Stenlund started their first year out strong after great performances in the fall season. Arca Costas went 11-7 overall in fall singles matches, and won the singles championship at the Duck Invitational in November. Stenlund finished the fall season 12-4 in singles matches, and put down UNLV's Jordan Sauer 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 at the ITA Mountain Regionals in Las Vegas. The freshmen are ready to start the 2019 season out strong on Friday.

NEWEST BRONCOS

The blue and orange are starting the spring season with two new additions to the team: Luka Soskic and Kooper Crow. Soskic is a sophomore transfer from Detroit Mercy where he led his team with a 22-7 record in singles. Idaho native Kooper Crow is a junior transfer from the University of Idaho.

HEAD COACH KRISTIAN WIDEN

Boise State graduate and former all-conference performer for the Broncos, Kristian Widen is entering his first season as head coach for the Broncos. Widen continues to build a strong, hard-working team and program.
