
Department-Record 125 Broncos Named Mountain West Scholar-Athletes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State set a department record Wednesday, as 125 Bronco student-athletes earned the 2019-20 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award, the second-most in the conference this year. The number of Boise State student-athletes to receive the honor has increased in each of the last seven years.

A program-record 15 Boise State football student-athletes received the MW Scholar-Athlete Award. Also setting program bests was softball (11), men's track and field (eight) and volleyball (seven). Women's tennis and women's golf tied their team marks with seven and six recipients, respectively.

The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in a Mountain West-sponsored sport.

The Mountain West honored a conference-record 1,053 student-athletes.
